Employees of The Melting Pot To Donate Their Wages and Tips on October 3 to Longtime Staff Member

Special FONDUE-Raiser Will Help Norwalk Resident’s Family in the Philippines

On Thursday, October 3, 2013, the Melting Pot of Darien will hold a special FONDUE-Raiser to benefit an employee, Mycel Alegado, a Norwalk resident whose family endured a personal tragedy in the Philippines. During this special dining event, the restaurant employees decided to  come together to show support for their colleague by donating a portion of the meal proceeds, coupled with a lump sum of the staff’s wages and tips, for Ms. Alegado’s relatives.

Ms. Alegado was born in an impoverished area in the Philippines and moved to Fairfield County a few years ago. She has postponed her college education to help provide financial assistance to relatives from her native country. At this time, Ms. Alegado provides support to her recently deceased cousin’s family, who left behind a wife and seven young children. All of the funds donated from this event will pay for the children’s expenses.

“Mycel Alegado is a wonderful employee and has a strong following with our restaurant guests,” said Will Areson, Restaurant Manager of The Melting Pot of Darien. “We genuinely care about our employees and consider them family, so our team decided to donate a portion of the October 3rd dining proceeds along with 100 percent of their wages and tips to further assist Ms. Alegado’s family with their financial obligations.”

Anyone wishing to attend this special FONDUE-Raiser should make reservations by calling the restaurant (after noon) at 203-656-4774. The Melting Pot, located at 14 Grove Street, in Darien, is situated near a large parking lot and walking distance from the Metro North train station.
