Barrett Bookstore Re-Opening Ribbon Cutting

After 24 years in Noroton Heights Shopping Plaza, Barrett Bookstore is blowing customers away with is renovated areas for all ages, gorgeous look and fireplace to read by!  The Darien Chamber of Commerce staff, its board representatives and local politicians were on hand for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

Shelia Daley, the owner of the store since 1997 said, "Barrett Bookstore celebrates a new look. Fairfield County’s oldest independent bookstore has seen many changes since it opened on Broad Street in Stamford in 1939. It has been in its present location in Noroton Heights Shopping Center since 1989. We moved everything around to give the store a more inviting, open look and to create a special area for middle readers, a growing audience for us.  We also added a lovely glass fronted bookcase that will contain a collection of modern first editions from Marvin Minkler, a dealer from Vermont, and designated an area easily converted to accommodate author events and book club gathering."

Remember, you can take care of your greeting cards needs at Barrett's also.  There is a large section featuring Halloween cards, plus their regular stock of necessary sympathy, get well, birthday and other occasion cards.  They also still have a “Darien” section where one may purchase mugs, cards and other items designed by Nobu of Darien.  While you are there, take a look at their beautifully carved mantel…truly a work of art to be appreciated while reading a good book.
