JoyRide Cycling Studio Ribbon Cutting

JoyRide Celebrates Ribbon Cutting in New Darien Studio

(Darien, Conn.) June 7, 2013 -- JoyRide Cycling Studio opened their second studio in Darien this week, punctuated by a celebratory ribbon cutting with Darien dignitaries and Chamber of Commerce board members on Thursday.  JoyRide, Fairfield County’s first fitness boutique dedicated to indoor cycling, or Spinning®, offers its high-energy and calorie-torching group exercise classes in a specially designed studio in the Goodwives Shopping Center at 25 Old Kings Highway North.

The three co-owners -- Amy Hochhauser, Debbie Katz and Rhodie Lorenz -- created a premier, boutique studio where talented instructors and enthusiastic riders infuse classes with energy, taking the ride from “just exercise” to an endorphin-surged and motivating workout, set to heart-pounding music.

“We are excited to spread the joy of indoor cycling to Darien!” said Hochhauser. “Working out at JoyRide doesn’t feel like work. Our classes get the endorphins flowing, clear the mind, and relieve stress. We want the hour riders spend at JoyRide to be the best hour of their day.”

JoyRide classes are geared toward all ages, genders and fitness levels -- from the seasoned athlete in top shape to someone who has just started or re-entered an exercise program. Lorenz, also the lead instructor, designed JoyRide's exclusive training method, which combines core elements of Pilates with high-quality indoor cycling to maximize cardiovascular benefits, lower blood pressure, develop muscle tone and reduce body fat.

Because indoor cycling is interval-based -- the intensity varies throughout the class by changing body positions, pedal speed and resistance -- it is one of the most efficient ways to torch calories. Riders can burn between 600-800 calories in a single, 50-minute class.  During the last 10 minutes of class, pedaling is combined with a form-focused upper body workout using a weighted body bar, followed by a cool down and crucial stretch.

To complement its popular indoor cycling classes, JoyRide also offers group interval training classes off the bike that combine weights, resistance and plyometric training for optimal results.  The studio also offers personal training.

JoyRide’s Darien studio is open seven days a week and offers classes starting at 6 am for the early risers and commuters through the early evening.  Every Sunday at noon, the following week’s schedule is published online at joyridestudio.com, where JoyRiders can reserve specific bikes in their favorite classes.  Reserving a bike in advance is highly recommended because classes fill up quickly.

For more information, class descriptions, instructor bios, blogs, pricing and reservations, please visit JoyRide’s web site at joyridestudio.com.  First class is free. During the month of June, JoyRide is offering 20 percent off class packages (enter code JR20 online).
