Connecticut Better Business Bureau Reports New England Sheds made Promises but Didn't Deliver

BBB files indicate the company has a pattern of complaints alleging non-delivery of ordered sheds

New Britain-Based Business Failed to Answer Recent Consumer Complaints

Connecticut Better Business Bureau is alerting consumers about New Britain-based New England Sheds Company because of a recent series of unanswered complaints.

BBB files indicate the company, which offers sheds, gazebos, garages, play houses, swing sets, horse barns, decks and home improvement services,  has a pattern of complaints alleging non-delivery of ordered sheds.  Consumers report paying a deposit and having their delivery date repeatedly postponed.

New England Sheds Company was incorporated in Connecticut in April, 2009, and its principal is registered with the state as Demetrios Katras.  Katras has been the subject of several court actions in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, some of which name him personally, as well as a former company of his, Custom Built Structures, and his current business, New England Sheds.

While New England Sheds Company, which has an F rating, has eight closed consumer complaints filed with Connecticut BBB in the past 36 months, it has failed to respond to four complaints since May, 2013.

In one unanswered complaint, a Stratford consumer reports the delivery date was moved back several times in telephone calls and emails from the company, which promised delivery “next week,” then “a couple of weeks,” and was subsequently told the weather was “too cold” to permit delivery.

A Plainville consumer stated he was given a variety of excuses as to why his shed was not delivered, and says his telephone calls and emails to the company go unanswered.  A consumer in Danbury who filed his complaint with BBB June 27, 2013, says he put down a $3,500 deposit for his shed, and was told delivery was delayed because the driver was injured in an accident.  His complaint states his calls and emails to New England Sheds were not returned.
