Awards Banquet

Darien, CT. March 16, 2014 – At the recent Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League Championship (CISL) race, the Darien High School girls and boys ski teams both finished 4th in the Class S Division and 8th and 12th overall, respectively. The award ceremony after the CISL championship race recognized Katharine Graham (Co-captain) and Kyla Pech as First Team All State in the CISL made up of about 650 girls and boys. Honorable Mention All State was awarded to Peter Del Col (Co-captain).

The Darien High School Ski Awards Banquet celebrated another challenging and successful season. For the third year in a row, the Boy’s Most Valuable Player was Senior Peter Del Col. Peter led the Boys’ team to a 3rd place Class S Division regular season with 14 wins and 11 losses. Senior Adriana Dziedzic was named the Girl’s Most Valuable Player. The Girl’s team finished the Class S regular season in 3rd place with a record of 10 wins and 6 losses.

The girls’ times in the Connecticut State Championships were Kyla Pech 48.46, Katharine Graham (Co-captain) 49.02, Taylor Hart (Co-captain) 50.06, Maggie Skeats 51.25, Carly Schoudel 57.28, Christina Molkenthin 59.65, Adriana Dziedzic 60.27, Caitlin Keady 60.92, Lila Seeman 64.00, and Madison Maier 67.85.

The boys’ times in the State Championships were Peter Del Col (Co-Captain) 48.94, Graham Skeats 53.94, Chris von Stuelpnagel 54.07, Mac Forbes 54.89, RJ Murray 55.43, Sam Arrix 55.87, Hayden Nackley 60.36, Gray Kline 61.32, Will Brandon 63.39 and Slater Lovegrove 63.58.

Departing seniors for the Girls’ team are Adriana Dziedzic, Caitlin Keady and Madison Maier.

Co-captain Peter Del Col and Mac Forbes are the senior boys graduating from the Boys’ team.

Coach Brian Zeyer said, “Peter certainly deserves the MVP award again this year. He had outstanding times in all the races this season. It was great for Adriana to also receive the award as she was consistently supportive of the team“.

Assistant Coach Marc Power said, “The team members provided great support for each other all season long and I couldn’t be more proud of their effort during the season and the Championship races.”
