Local AAU Basketball Team Wins Super Regional

The United Sons and Daughters 8th grade boys basketball team

The United Sons and Daughters 8th grade boys basketball team won the AAU Super Regional Championship this weekend. The games were played in Newtown and New Haven. The USAD squad is an All Star team made up of local area players, selected to the team on basis of their play in the Fairfield County Basketball League during the winter season.

The Super Regional was an open tournament with teams from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, New jersey and Rhode Island participating. USAD dominated their draw, beating Castle Athletics (Harlem, NY) 58-22, Connecticut Elite 81-48 and the Running Rebels (CT/NY) 91-70 in the championship game. 

The USAD players are Chris Swanson and Nik Parker of Weston, Ben Casparius, Justin Seideman and Mack Muller of Westport, Jack Williams of Wilton, Tyler Sweeney and James Crovatto of New Canaan, Marcus Fox of Danbury, Bobby Haskins of Newtown, Jorden Means of White Plains, and Alex Preston, Carter Scott, Jackson Ryan and Zak Swetye of Darien. The team is coached by Greens Farms Academy boys varsity coach Doug Scott.

The tournament win qualifies USAD  for the AAU National Championship tournament which will be held in Orlando, FL this July.
