Community Notice: Seasonal Flu Vaccine Availability

A Message from David Knauf, Director of Health

This has been quite a year for the flu. Lots of concern, and seemingly, little available vaccine. We had a clinic during Election Day and used up all of our supply to the frustration of many. Our apologies to those who were disappointed, but we haven’t been the only ones caught short.

We are pleased to announce that the vaccine manufacturer has informed us that we will be receiving a TOTAL of 90 doses sometime within the next week. So, if you are interested, please be advised that this very limited amount of vaccine will be made available by appointment only.

Those who wish to receive a seasonal flu shot should call 203-656-7394 or email ekilbourn@darienct.gov to get on an appointment list. No flu shots will be given unless an appointment is made. This is the same information for H1N1 flu shots—vaccine is only available by appointment.

I can only express my regret and frustration for how this vaccine situation has evolved. We will continue doing our best to get as much vaccine to those who need it as quickly and efficiently as we can. In the meantime, thank you for your understanding and patience.
