Adults

  • Play: "Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean": 8 p.m., Darien Arts Center. $25 for adults; $20 for seniors and students. "In a small town dime store in West Texas, the "Disciples of James Dean" gather for their twentieth reunion. Now middle-aged women, they were teenagers when Dean filmed Giant two decades ago in nearby Marfa. One of them, an extra in the film, has a child whom she says was conceived with Dean during the shoot."—from the on Darien Patch
  • Teacher/Parent conferences for elementary school students run from Wednesday through Friday this week. 
  • One Book, One Community 2012: "Visit us now to check out your copy of 97 Orchard [for adult] or The Inquisitor's Apprentice [for young readers]. Then, join us in March and April as we host a slew of discussions, workshops, lectures, film screenings, and events that support the books’ themes. There will be programs for adults, teens, and children. Help build a better community!"

  • Darien High Student Wear Cart starts today with $5 items: "Friday, March 9th during all lunch waves, DHS Student Wear will launch the school cart. All items on the cart will be $5.00 but quantities are limited. Check out the New Blue Wave Mints. Is it a friend's birthday, do you need a thank you card, or maybe just a small gift. All items on the cart are $5.00 with the exception of the Eco Club water bottles which are $8.00.
