Budget Vote: The Darien Board of Finance meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. (Town Hall room 206) to vote on the FY 2012 budget and mill rate. A property tax increase  is likely, according to figures from Tuesday's board meeting.

Canned Goods Food Drive: From today through April 21, the will be collecting non-perishable donations for 's food pantry. The drive is part of library's One Book, One Community program. for additional information and a list of the most needed items.

Author Carlos Eire: Also at the library, Carlos Eire — author of the memoir Learning to Die in Miami: Confessions of a Refugee Boy — Eire "is a voice for the generation of Cuban children who fled their homeland during Operation Peter Pan in the early 1960s," according to the event details.

Tax Help: April 18 is fast approaching, but Tax-Aide — a program administered by the AARP Foundation — is here to help. , make an appointment or just drop by the Darien Library tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tax-Aide will also be at the library next Friday, April 15.

Warming Trend: There's a slight chance of rain for the area every day through the weekend, but temperatures are likely to improve soon enough. A high of 70° is forecast for Monday.
