Five Things to Know About Darien, June 10

Skin: Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the presents a free screening of Skin, part of its Friday Night Film Series. The 2008 film tells the story of a black girl born to two white Afrikaner parents who must overcome the racial intolerance of her society. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.

We've Got Game: Children 7 and up can also drop by the library today between 4:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. to play Wii on the big screen.

Art Show and Sale: The 's annual continues today from noon to 5:30 p.m. The exhibit, which features art by children and adults who live or work in Darien, closes Saturday.

Dog Licenses: Darien's annual dog licensing period continues today and runs through the end of the month. To avoid a penalty, new licenses must be procured on or before June 30, when the current licenses expire. Owners can stop by the 's office (Town Hall room 101) weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For information on fees and required paperwork, check here.

Cooling Off: The good news is that today should be much cooler than Thursday, with a high of about 81° expected. The bad news: there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, tonight, and throughout the weekend.
