Five Things to Know About Darien, June 9

A Bit Toasty: A high of 95° is forecast for Darien Thursday afternoon, and the Department of Environmental Protection is once again warning that today's ozone levels could be "unhealthy for sensitive groups." The National Weather Service expects widespread haze across the region during the a.m. hours, followed by a slight chance of strong to severe thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Extended Library Hours: Continuing today and running through Tuesday, the is offering extended hours to accommodate the final exam push:

  • Thursday, June 9: 9 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 12: 1 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Monday, June 13: 9 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 14: 9 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Drop-in Story Time: The library will also host a laptime for pre-walking babies and caregivers today from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Art Show and Sale: The 's annual  continues today from noon to 5:30 p.m. The exhibit, which features art by children and adults who live or work in Darien, will be open through Saturday.

Dog Licenses: Darien's annual dog licensing period continues today and runs through the end of the month. To avoid a penalty, new licenses must be procured on or before June 30, when the current licenses expire. Owners can stop by the 's office (Town Hall room 101) weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For information on fees and required paperwork, check here.
