Five Things to Know About Darien, March 2

Patch's daily rundown of local events and useful information.

M-8s, at Long Last: Metro-North finally unveilled a set of the long-awaited M-8 cars Tuesday. So far only one train of six cars will be running, but more are on their way. Sadly, the lone train won't be stopping in Darien, but you can catch it this week if you commute out of Stamford — we've got the full schedule.

Video Game Panel: Tonight from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Darien Library will host a panel discussion on video games — the good, the bad, and the ugly aspects. Panelists include Luke Forshaw, assistant principal at Ox Ridge School, and Edward Moran, a clinical social worker at Family Centers, Inc.

Freakonomics: Also at the Darien Library today is a free screening at 2 p.m. of the documentary Freakonomics, part of the Wednesday Matinée Film Series. The film, like its namesake book, explores unexpected trends in the world through the lens of incentive-based thinking.
