Five Things to Know About Darien, May 24

Celebrating the Arts Panel: Tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the hosts  — past and present — who are involved in the arts. Panelists Collin Shay, Claire Karpen, EJ Couloucoundis, Sandy Garnett, and Alison Goldsmith will share stories of how they found success in their fields and where they're headed today. Malcolm Karlan, orchestra director at , will moderate.

Writers' Workshop Luncheon: Members of the Writers' Workshop will present their work this morning at the DCA, followed by a luncheon. Entry is $15 for guests; Book Group members get in free. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bulk Pickup: Darien's continues today and runs Tuesdays and Wednesdays through June 21. Residents must make appointments (one free per household) using the town's service request form or by calling 203-656-7374.

Boards and Commissions: Meeting tonight at Town Hall are the Board of Education (7:30 p.m., BOE meeting room), the Planning and Zoning Commission (8 p.m., room 206), the Advisory Board of Health (7 p.m., room 213), and the editorial subcommittee of the Representative Town Meeting Rules Committee (7 p.m., room B-3).
