Greenwich Names New Police Chief, Trumbull Dog Park Reopens

FAIRFIELD— An elderly woman bicycling on Reef Road near Bud’s Deli , according to officials. Police said they have a potential witness and are following leads. The woman sustained a head injury and was rushed by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital.

GREENWICH— The Greenwich Board of Selectmen Deputy Greenwich Police James Heavey as chief of the department, effective Nov. 1. He will succeed Chief David Ridberg who will retire Oct. 31.

NORWALK— Independent film producer John M. Bennett, 48, of Norwalk was from his friend Scott Allen, a human resources consultant. Bennett allegedly made more than $1.1 million from the information and the two men were arraigned in different federal courts. They each face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of either $5 million or twice the gross financial gain or loss on each of the securities fraud charges.

STAMFORD— The Museum of Black WWII History, which is currently located in Vermont, once a building is secured. Founder and curator Bruce Bird hopes the move to the city will attract more visitors to the museum where patrons will learn about the untold stories of the African Americans serving in World War II.

TRUMBULL— After a long process of rebuilding and repairing after Tropical Storm Irene, . A damaged fence and debris forced the closing of the area along with the rest of Indian Ledge Park, but a temporary repair for the fence has allowed dogs to return.

WESTPORT— A Westport police cruiser when the officer driving attempted to pursue a suspect driving in a stolen vehicle. The incident began in South Norwalk when a woman at 15 Burwell St. reported that the suspect, Bridgeport resident Rolf Johnson, assaulted her and then fled in a Toyota Rav4 SUV. He was later taken into custody.
