Longtime Loves Set to Marry Saturday, Celebrate in Darien

Some prefer dramatic wedding proposals on top of towers or in fancy restaurants. But for Shoshana Carter and David Snyder, a regular night at home did the trick.

Some guys prefer dramatic wedding proposals on top of towers or bridges, or in fancy restaurants. But for longtime couple Shoshana Carter and David Snyder, a regular night at home for the couple of seven and a half years did the trick.

The couple, who met senior year of college, were enjoying their weekly “DVR and homemade pizza night” when her then-boyfriend David Snyder, 29, popped the question with a radiant diamond ring, Shoshana recalls.

“His proposal was perfect for us,” says the Fairfield-born bride-to-be, 28, a Syracuse University graduate who now works in real estate.

The couple will marry this Saturday in a church ceremony at St. Luke’s Parish in Westport, followed by a reception at The Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s in Darien.

Bride Shoshana will be joined by mom Marianne Carter and brother Ryan Carter.

Groom David, an assistant superintendent at Westchester Hills Golf Club with a degree from Rutgers Turf and Golf Course Management School and Brewster, N.Y., native, will be joined by parents Raymond and Diane Snyder; brothers RJ, Jeff, Scott, and Bryan Snyder; and cousin Russell Snyder.

Shoshana says she’s excited about seeing all the planning and design, which she spent hours on, come together on the big day.

“Although I was not looking for a boyfriend, it didn’t take long for me to fall head over heels in love with him,” says Shoshana. “We have been together for a long time so we are just ready to be husband and wife, start the next chapter of our lives, and celebrate with our friends and family.”
