Rye Man Found Dead in Stamford, Fairfield Bridge Reopens

Stamford: An unidentified Rye man was found dead by Greenwich police in Mianus River Park on Sunday night between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. According to Stamford police, the 53-year-old man was found hanging from a tree and that the bike he used to ride through park on a regular basis

Fairfield: After 15 frustrating months, the Mill Plain Bridge to the delight of area residents. According to town officials, repair work involved two separate bridges joined by a pier anchored in the Mill River below and was slowed by environmental concerns and requirements. The bridge crossing Mill River near the Brookside Drive intersection had been closed to all motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians since May 2010.

Norwalk, Wilton: Area motorcyclists gathered in Norwalk on Sunday for CT United Ride's 11th annual tribute to 9/11 first responders. After a brief ceremony, East Norwalk, and then Westport, , Redding, Bethel, Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull and Bridgeport, where the day's mass ride ended.

Ridgefield: Hundreds of Ridgefielders Sunday evening as the town unveiled a newly erected Sept. 11 memorial featuring a steel beam from the World Trade Center in the middle. The monument designed by Ridgefield architect and builder Chris Curnan and the ceremony featured a poetic account by clergy association leader Fred Turpin and a saxophone medley by Molly Weeks.

Darien: The manager of reported to police that about $2,700 was stolen from the store's safe. The manager told authorities that he last placed the money in the safe on Tuesday night, but when he returned the next day, . Several employees have the combination to the safe, according to the store manager. The matter is still under investigation.
