The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County and surrounding areas, in effect through 10:30 p.m. Monday.

"At 9:38 p.m. EDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a sever thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph," the alert reads. "This storm was located near Ossining and moving southeast at 25 mph."

Darien, New Canaan, Stamford, and Norwalk are among the towns specifically mentioned in the alert, but others may be affected.
