TV79 Program Guide, April 1-7

This week's broadcast schedule includes a documentary about the Darien Library and an interview with Board of Finance chairman Liz Mao.

Below is the weekly schedule for , the Town of Darien's local government access channel. The new lineup goes into effect each week on Friday evening.

Staffed by volunteer and paid camera operators, TV79 covers up to five government meetings each week. Most meetings are aired live and repeated the next week. The channel itself is only available to Darien residents who are Cablevision subscribers, but DVD copies of coverage are available for $25 per disk.

The channel is supported by Cablevision subscription fees and some funding from the Town. For questions — or to receive the schedule directly by email — contact channel79@darienct.gov.

The Darien Library: The Great Good Place

Special this week, TV79 will air the award-winning documentary “The Darien Library: The Great Good Place."

Produced, written, and filmed by Manny Perez, the documentary was  in the 2010 Connecticut Library Association Publicity Awards Contest. Perez will receive the award at ceremonies in Stamford in May.

The documentary premiered in November 2010 to widespread praise. The film documents the opening of the new Darien Library in 2009 after a ten year, $27 million construction plan.
