Mark your calendars: On Oct. 22 the Darien League of Women Voters hosts an event for municipal candidates, including tax collector (contested this year); on Oct. 30, the LVW hosts Board of Education candidates.

To the editor:

Campaign 2013 is upon us and the Darien League of Women Voters is pleased to host two upcoming events:

Join us Tuesday, Oct. 22, for Candidates’ Night 2013, featuring discussion and debate among our municipal candidates for the offices of Tax Collector (which is contested this year), Board of Finance, Planning & Zoning, Board of Selectman, and First Selectman.  The evening kicks off with a reception at 7pm in the Darien Town Hall Lobby; the program begins at 7:20pm in the Town Hall Auditorium.

Secondly, candidates for the Board of Education will participate in a discussion and debate set for Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Darien Library Community Room.  This is a contested race with four candidates, two Democrats and two Republicans, running for three positions on the Board.  The evening begins at 7 p.m. (no opening reception) and concludes at 8:15 p.m.

During both events, voters will be able to submit written questions to the candidates either in person or online via our website. This is a great opportunity to meet the candidates and ask about the many issues facing our town.  Both events will be videotaped by Channel 79 and rebroadcast prior to Election Day November 12th.  Please visit our website lwv.darien.org for more information.

Mark your calendars for these important election events, Tuesday, Oct. 22, and Wednesday, Oct. 30.  We look forward to seeing you there.
