Letter: Valentino Brings Fresh Perspective to Tax Collecting

"Electing Tom [Valentino] would be a way to ensure that new ideas are brought to bear on the tax collection process in town, writes Frank Huck in his letter to the editor.

To the editor:

I'm writing in support of Tom Valentino's candidacy for Tax Collector in Darien.

Electing Tom would be a way to ensure that new ideas are brought to bear on the tax collection process in town.

The current system, which works but is expensive for the Town and time-consuming for many residents, could obviously benefit from the fresh perspective that Tom could bring.

Tom has not only been a town resident for 37 years, but he's had 35 years of experience in tracking, billing and collecting musical royalties.

In his business experience Tom lacked the bureaucratic advantages of a municipal authority, so he had to learn and deploy collection methods that truly met the current needs and practices of both those seeking and making payments.

He's also a very decent guy who's easy and fun to work with.
