Darien High School Hosts First Jazz Festival

The Darien High School Jazz band, under the direction of Mr. Jonathan Grauer, has been on the road performing and competing at various jazz festivals around Fairfield County, but for the first time this year DHS will host its own jazz festival.

The first annual Darien High School Jazz Jamboree will take place on Friday, March 28, and will feature 10 bands, representing 7 local High School, plus our own Middlesex Middle School.

The three eminent judges, who will adjudicate and conduct workshops with each band are, alto sax player, John Mastroianni, pianist Joyce DiCamillo and drummer, Thierry Arpino.  The program will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. and admission is just $5.

The Middlesex Jazz ensemble will be playing at 4 p.m. and the finale at 9 p.m. will be the Darien Jazz Band performing with the three festival judges.  It promises to be an extraordinary evening of jazz.

Audience members are welcome to watch any of the performances throughout the evening, but are particularly encouraged to come and support our Darien Jazz ensembles. For more information contact the Darien Music Office at 203-655-3981, ext: 2250.
