"A Cabaret Evening" with Pianist Joe Holmes & Jazz Vocalist Nicole Pasternak at the DCA

The Darien Community Association presents pianist Joe Holmes, vocalist Nicole Pasternak, and bassist Frank Tate in an evening of jazz on Wednesday, March 20th.

Joe Holmes is well known in the area for his Swing Band and energetic piano.  A musician from the age of 5, Joe has performed everywhere, from radio, to weddings and clubs, to a master class for jazz with the great Dick Hyman.  His piano style has such a foot-tapping, danceable beat and energy level, his shows are a guaranteed entertaining evening for all.

Vocalist Nicole Pasternak has been described as "…reminiscent of a young Ella ... the brightest young jazz singer I've heard since Bobby McFerrin,” by Chuck Berg of JazzTimes.  A strong improviser, she is appreciated for her sense of lyric delivery, phrasing and rhythm – and for the musician-like way she infuses her sound within the ensemble, be it big band or duo.  Her repertoire embraces the powerful traditions of swing songs, the Great American Songbook and the big band era.
