Robert Citrone, investment manager and advisor for over 20 years, will deliver the third lecture in this year’s series Making the World Go Round…Global Economics, sponsored by the Darien Community Association’s 2013 Academic Lectures Series on Global Issues. His presentation, “Around the World with Emerging Markets,” is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Thursday January 24 at the DCA.
Mr. Citrone currently is the sole manager of investments for Discovery Capital Management, which was established in 1999. A founder of Discovery Global Citizens Capital Partners in 2006, he also founded Discovery Global Macro Funds in 2011.
In 1995 he joined Tiger Management as a managing director to head global emerging market investments and was responsible for strategic investment recommendations on currencies, fixed income, and equities.
Beginning his career at Fidelity Investment in 1990, Mr. Citrone built and ran the Emerging Market Fixed Income and Currency Group, which grew under his leadership to over $7 billion in assets. Serving as the group’s director and head of research, he was also fund manager of a number of emerging market mutual funds and sub-portfolios. Prior to attending business school he worked at First Boston in the fixed income trading group.
An MBA graduate of the Darden School at the University of Virginia, Mr. Citrone was named a Shermit Scholar, an honor bestowed upon the top ten students in each class. His undergraduate degree in Honors Math and Economics was earned at Hampden-Sydney College, where he has since served as a trustee as well as a member of the Finance Committee responsible for managing the college endowment.
Mr. Citrone will speak in the Garden Wing of the Darien Community Association, located at 274 Middlesex Road in Darien. Reservations are requested; a limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $25.
