Darien Social Services Annual Holiday Program

The Darien Social Services Department has begun collecting toys and gift cards fo their 2012 Holiday program.  The program provides food and gifts to eligible Darien children and individuals to make their holidays a little brighter.  Three holiday trees have been set up in various locations throughout Darien and are decorated with gingerbread man ornaments.  Each ornament represents a specific request, but you don't need a gingerbread man to make a donation of your choice.

"There is nothing more gratifying than watching our families smile when they receive their gifts" says Olive Hauser, Department Director.  "It's a special time of year and we are so grateful to everyone in Darien who comes out and helps us fulfill our mission."

Trees are located in the main entranceway of Darien Town Hall, Darien Rowayton Bank and Halstead Real Estate.  Supporters can donate toys such as Crayola gift sets, Legos, Sport Balls, cars and trucks, Snow Saucers, Barbies and Barbie accessories.  Gift cards from retailers such as Target, WalMart, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, and Kohl's.  Stop & Shop and gas station gift cards are also welcomed.  Donations can be dropped off at Town Hall, Darien Social Services, Room 109.  Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  For more information, please contact Olive Hauser, 203-656-7373 or ohauser@darienct.gov.
