Darien YMCA Hosts Girls Night Out for Teens
On March 1st, the Darien YMCA will be hosting “Girls Night Out: A Celebration of Fun and Fitness for Teens in the Community” from 7 to 9pm at the Darien Y’s facility at 2420 on the Post Road. This event is open to both non-members and members of the Darien Y who are ages 12 and above. Advanced RSVP is required by Wednesday, February 27th at svponticello@darien-ymca.org.
Girls attending the event will sample the Y’s Teen Fitness offerings including yoga, Zumba, and spin. These will all be short classes during the event that will be led by certified instructors. There will be lots of great music and healthy treats provided by Embody Fitness Gourmet, now located in the Darien YMCA’s lobby. Director of Fitness Suzanne Ponticello said, “The Girls Night is a great opportunity to let loose, catch up with each other and make new friends!”
This event serves to kickoff the next session of the Darien Y’s Teen Fitness series begins the week of March 11th. This series began earlier this year and is catered toward the youth in the community that may not be associated with an organized sport. The overall objective of the series which includes yoga, Zumba, and spin, is designed to build self-esteem and healthy habits.
