If you are contemplating a major redecorating project to freshen up your home or even a small retouching to spruce up “tired” décor, the DCA Book Group’s “Meet the Author” program on Tuesday, January 22, is a must. Design consultant Elizabeth Mayhew will be there to present her new book, “Flip! for Decorating”.
In her book, Ms. Mayhew suggests step-by-step instructions for decorating the four most commonly used rooms: living room, dining room, family room, and bedroom. She discusses the fundamentals of color, when to use wallpaper instead of paint and the ways to treat a window, from Venetian blinds and Roman shades to simple curtains, and the art of picking the perfect sofa, chairs tables and lighting.
Elizabeth Mayhew is a contributing editor to NBC’s Today Show. She has worked for House Beautiful, Real Simple, Southern Living and Woman’s Day. A native of Kentucky, she now lives in New York with her husband and two children.
Coffee will be served at 10:00 am and the program will start at 10:30. The event is $3 for DCA members, and $5 for guests. Reservations are recommended for this informative event, which will be held at the DCA, 274 Middlesex Road in Darien.
