Popular S4 Study Skills Program Returns to Middlesex Middle School for Area Middle Schoolers

Time management, executive functioning and organizational skills are the essential foundation for academic success, allowing students to be more confident and better prepared for school, while providing the critically needed tools for life beyond.


After continued popular demand, S4 has announced it will offer the Successful Study Skills 4 Students Program to area middle schoolers for a third Winter at Middlesex Middle School. The program focuses on offering tools and strategies in time management, executive functioning and organizational skills - essential tools for academic success allowing students to be more confident and better prepared for school, while also providing the critically needed tools for life beyond.

Study skills are critical and the necessary foundation for academic success,” said Michelle Sagalyn, President of S4. “We are excited to offer this successful program in Darien so their students, and those in neighboring communities, can take advantage of these important tools at the start of new year.”


The evidenced-based S4 program is founded on proven educational research, and taught by accredited, dynamic teachers. In a highly participatory presentation, students will learn essential easy-to-implement skills needed for successful learning and studying, including:

  • Notetaking

  • Time management

  • Understanding main ideas & important details

  • How to build on new ideas & info

  • Using your planner

  • Active learning

  • Asking questions to self-advocate

  • Memorization strategies

  • Goal setting

  • Test preparation strategies


We know that implementing even a single new skill can make a big difference in a student’s love of learning,” continued Ms Sagalyn.


Limited class size of 15 ensures that all students get personalized attention. In addition, S4 supplies all materials, including exclusive how-to guides for at-home support.


The five-session workshop, which is designed to integrate students’ schoolwork into the program, will be held on Tuesdays, January 29, Feb 5, 12, 26, and March 5, from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.


A Test Prep Workshop targeted to high school students will be held in New Canaan at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan in February.
