Community Corner

Stamford, Take Off Your Clothes!

On Saturday, October 20th, at the University of Connecticut-Stamford Campus, from 11am to 3pm, Person-to-Person (P2P) will host their first fun, family event in Stamford – Stamford, Take Off Your Clothes! P2P is inviting all Stamford residents and families to a fun day while making a difference in the community. This event will feature local food trucks such as the Melt Mobile and food vendors Station Eats, Soundview Catering, and Bar Rosso. Star 99.9‘s On-Air personality, Jolana Smith, will emcee the event and a lucky donor will have a chance to win a gift certificate for an iPad, a signed tie from Donald Trump, or passes to Chelsea Piers!

Members of the community, companies, schools, and community groups are invited to bring donations of new or gently used clothing, outerwear, shoes, and accessories to Stamford, Take Off Your Clothes  -- or just come for the fun! These donations will stock the shelves of the Person-to-Person Clothing Center, which provides a free resource to people in need in Lower Fairfield County . At this time of year, the Clothing Center will be stocking the racks with coats and other essential winter items as the cold weather approaches.

Last year, Person-to-Person served more than 21,000 residents of Lower Fairfield County, and distributed more than 50,000 bags of clothing.  About 80% of Person-to-Person clients are Stamford residents.  The organization is looking forward to the Stamford, Take Off Your Clothes! event as a fun and informative event to raise  public awareness about  the needs in our community and the services available to families in this area.
