GOOD FRIDAY ECUMENICAL “CROSS WALK”

The churches of Darien come

together on Good Friday at First Congregational Church (14 Brookside Road) at

10:30 am to carry the cross of Christ through town to St. Luke’s Episcopal,

where we arrive at approximately 11:45 am.

The date is April 18, 2014.
The
purpose is to unify the churches at the high holy days, to pause at familiar
stops along the way for prayerful reflection, but also to lead up to the Good
Friday Ecumenical Service on the “The Seven Last Words of Christ”, that runs
from noon to 3 pm.

Each congregation is asked to contribute several walkers to our shared cause.

You need not walk the entire distance.
Families, all ages, and individuals are
welcome.
You need not be a member of any
church.

Brief street stops are made at the Town Hall Home for Seniors, the

Darien Fire Department, the train station, the Darien Theater, the I-95 Bridge,
the Darien Gardening Center, the Darien Library, the cemetery at Spring Grove,
finally ending at St. Luke’s.

Join us later along our way or depart early if you can’t walk the entire hour-plus.

How

will you find us? That should be easy.  Not too many groups walk across town burdened by a life-size cross.
