INVESTMENT EXPERT TO DISCUSS TIME-TESTED STOCK STRATEGIES

James O'Shaughnessy, chairman and CEO of  Stamford-based O'Shaughnessy Asset Management LLC,  will address the topic, “What Works on Wall Street” ” at a dinner meeting of the Connecticut chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors Thursday, April 24 at 8 pm.  The event will take place at The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s II in Darien.  O’Shaughnessy will discuss proven approaches to stock investing that work well over a longer period, not just the current market cycle.  Among the key features of stocks he favors are financial strength, modest valuation and high dividend yield.  Currently, cash-rich companies that are buying back a substantial portion of their stock appear especially attractive, he says.  With the prospect of higher interest rates looming in the U.S, O'Shaughnessy believes that high-yielding, non-US equities deserve a prominent role in investor portfolios.

A pioneer in quantitative equity analysis, O’Shaughnessy is recognized as one of the nation’s leading financial experts.  In 2009, Forbes.com included O’Shaughnessy in a series on “Legendary Investors” along with Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffet, and Peter Lynch   Besides frequent appearances on financial news shows, he is the author of several books on investing including What Works on Wall Street, and How to Retire Rich, both  BusinessWeek and New York Times business best-sellers His Stamford-based money management firm manages approximately $6.5 billion in assets for high-net-worth individual investors and institutions.Registration for the event, which is open to the public, begins at 6, the talk is at 7 and dinner is at 8.  The charge for dinner and program is $50 in advance and $55 at the door.  The program alone is $25.
