New DCA French Literature class: "Tartuffe" by Molière - Tuesday sessions

The public is invited to take a journey into the 17th century with Molière, the Sun King’s favorite at the magnificent court of Versailles. Behind the scenes and through Molière’s life itself, they’ll discover a world of grandeur and extravagance where flattery and intrigue prevail. Molière’s Tartuffe is a devilish comedy about the art of deception. It was an immense success – though also a scandal; the play was banished for years.

Florence Anglade, French citizen, is a regular instructor at the DCA and leads these sessions in English. An interactive class, students are required to read the book in English or French, as well as research ahead of the class. The Richard Wilbur translation is recommended. Each workshop consists of two 2-hour sessions.

Tuesday and Thursday workshops will be offered from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Tuesday workshops will be held March 4th and 11th; Thursday workshops will be March 6th and 13th.  Fees are $80 per person, or $60 for DCA members. A minimum of 5 students per workshop is required, and prepayment is required by noon on Thursday, January 27th. Registration for either workshop can be confirmed through dariendca.org or by contacting the DCA at info@dariendca.org or 203-655-9050. Workshops are held at the DCA, 274 Middlesex Road in Darien.
