Thriving (not just surviving) Through Times of Change - Explore! Programs for Women

The DCA is delighted to launch a program designed for empty nesters and other women who want to revisit their goals and how they spend their free time.

With a change of routine and more free time, women have many options: go back to work, learn bridge, try a new sport, volunteer for a cause — activities that were previously set aside while raising a family and managing a home. The “Explore! Programs for Women” will help women understand this time of change, identify their capabilities and interests, and pursue their goals.

The program launches at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 with “Thriving (not just surviving) Through Times of Change” led by Maud Purcell, founder of The Life Solution Center of Darien.

Purcell is a skilled and seasoned psychotherapist with a short-term, solution-focused approach. A frequent YWCA Parent Awareness speaker, she has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, and writes regular columns in five local publications.

Through her 40-minute presentation, Purcell will help women in transition establish a healthy life balance, rediscover who they are, and take a peak at where they might be headed next, all in an informal and supportive environment.

Subsequent events will be monthly on Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30, and will focus on a particular topic.

For some, these sessions can help them recapture a sense of purpose. For others, sessions may be more about networking with women having similar interests. For all, this is a great time to explore.

Program fees are $10 for DCA members, $15 public. The DCA is located at 274 Middlesex Road
