Tribalieve's Fundraiser for Rescue Foundation, India

Triveni Archaya, the President of Rescue Foundation in Mumbai, India, is visiting the United States. She's been nominated for another important award, for her amazing humanitarian efforts to save young girls from human trafficking into forced prostitution.

What better way to celebrate her visit than through dance? And what better way to celebrate dance than with a Dance-a-thon?! A tribal bellydance-a-thon that is!! And what better way to celebrate a tribal bellydance-a-thon than using it to raise money for a great cause? So that's exactly what we're going to do.

On Saturday, November 2 from 10am ~ 1pm the wonderful ladies of Tribalieve, led by the amazing Tamara Babun, will conduct a bellydance-a-thon at JAM SONO in Norwalk, CT. Tammy and the ladies are doing this to help us raise money to save more lives. But they need your encouragement, support and most of all financial backing to help our efforts through Naya Jeevan Foundation to raise money to assist Mrs. Triveni in her invaluable work. So please reach out if you want to sponsor a dancer, or if your company would like to be a corporate sponsor of the event. And if you want to make a direct donation whether or not you can make the event on the 2nd, you easily pay through PayPal on the Naya Jeevan Foundation website, at http://www.nayajeevanfoundation.com/donate.php  .

Remember, your donation is tax deductible as Naya Jeevan Foundation is a New York-based, registered 501(c)3 charity. And 100% of your donations go to help the girls rescued. The money supports providing them medical treatment, psychological counseling, food, clothing, shelter. And also repatriation where possible, and teaching them trades to help get them jobs. There are no advertising or administrative fees, salaries, travel, lunches or any other expense deducted. All expenses for running Naya Jeevan Foundation are paid by its founders, Edward & Ninorah Brookshire.

So if you are in CT or live nearby, please plan to attend this wonderful celebration of dance and support these wonderful ladies who are donating their time and bellies to this great cause. Please RSVP so we have an idea how many people are coming. There will be wine and cheese served.

About Gobbah
Tribalieve, founded and led by Tamara Babun in 2007, is an ITS (Improvisational Tribal Style) belly dance troupe who perform an energetic fusion of various belly dance styles and incorporate signature moves from the renowned American Tribal Style (ATS). Carolena Nericcio of Fat Chance Belly Dance in California, who was inspired by traditional Middle Eastern and Indian folkloric dances, created ATS in the early 70’s. In ATS the dancers move in formations with a lead and follow choreography and communicate with one another with subtle gestures to alter the movement or to pass on the leader role to a fellow dancer. The dancers are often adorned in vibrant costuming which may include full skirts, tassel belts and tribal jewelry. They will often play zills (or finger symbols) to accompany the music and choreography.
Tamara, a personal trainer and nutritionist, and no stranger to the sculpture and maintenance of a fine physique, was first attracted to the art of belly dance back in 2004 when she attended her first workshops with Suhaila Salimpour and Sharon Kihara. Not only was she inspired by the intensity and focus of the abdominal movement along with the brilliant costuming, but also more importantly by the camaraderie among the dancers and sense of community that is woven into this style of troupe dance. Known for her eclectic taste and high energy, Tamara describes her unique style as a fusion of belly dance, hip-hop and modern. The members of Tribalieve share a passion for the art and come with various backgrounds in dance. They travel to attend workshops and garner inspiration from belly dance greats such as Carolena Nericcio, Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes and Amy Sigil of Unmata. in 2011 Tribalieve has had their own studio at 36 Main St., in Norwalk CT. You can find more information about this lovely group and their classes on www.tribalieve.com
