Good Wife's River DAR Chapter has worked very hard this and every
year to make Wreaths Across America a moving tribute to our veterans.. We are
once again having a ceremony at noon on December 14, at the Spring Grove
Veteran's Cemetery on Hecker Avenue in Darien. It is right on the Post Road. We
would be very pleased to have you or a representative from your DAR Chapter
join us in this wreath laying. We have over 1,000 wreaths and happen to also be
the oldest of the three officially designed Veteran's Cemeteries in CT. Others
are located at Rocky Hill and Middletown, CT. Ours is the closest to your
Chapter, so please consider attending. Our DAR chapter partners with the local VFW Post #6933, and the members of Darien's Monuments and Ceremonies Commission, the Support or Soldiers at Darien High School and many civic groups. It is an all inclusive ceremony. We would be honored to have you come to our cemetery WAA ceremony conducted by the Commander of the VFW. Please pass this email along to your members. My husband and I and Good Wife's River DAR Second Vice Regent, Katherine Love went to Milford, CT last Tuesday and met with Karen and Morrill Worcester who were at the Route 95 CT Exit 40 truck stop placing wreaths on the grilles of trucks there. The provision was a that wherever the trucker was on December 14, he take the wreath and place it on the nearby grave of a veteran. I've included a photo of the event last week with the Worcesters. Please plan to attend our Darien ceremony to honor our veterans.
Thank you,
Karen Polett, Public Relations
