Motown Magic featuring The Commodores

The Commodores, the hit Motown band of the 1970s and 1980s, will take to the stage on Saturday, Oct. 16, for the Darien Technology & Community Foundation's annual fund-raising gala.

"Motown Magic" will bring back such hits as "Brick House," "Easy" and "Nightshift," as guests enjoy an open bar and sit down dinner followed by a night of dancing. The Chilton Foundation underwrote the cost of The Commodores for the gala.

Offered for the first time this year are two ticket options. A $250 per person ticket includes cocktails, a seated dinner and live auction prior to the concert. A $150 per person ticket allows entry to the tent at 9, for open bar, snacks, the silent auction and the concert.

Those attending the dinner will have the opportunity to bid on several items during the live auction. Among the packages is an exclusive getaway to a private home in Montana complete with a fishing guide for a day, a private party at the Filling Station in New Canaan, a Napa Valley vineyard trip, a photo session with Megan Dey of Darien, and more.

The mission of the Darien Technology & Community Foundation is to provide funding for technology and community capital projects that benefit the citizens of Darien. Some of the recent projects they have funded include the YWCA Technology Training Lab, audio visual equipment for the Darien Historical Society's newly renovated Scofield Barn, accident investigation hardware and software for the Darien Police Department, Playground by the Sound at Weed Beach, mapping and dispatching equipment and software for Post 53, and an iMac Lab at Middlesex Middle school.
