Greens Farms Boys Basketball Continues its March Through the FAA

Greens Farms Academy defeats Rye Country Day in boys basketball

The Greens Farms Academy Dragons continued their Sherman-esque march of destruction through the Fairchester Athletic Association, dismantling the New Yorkers of Rye Country Day School 75-54. The Dragons clinched the league’s regular season crown last week and are now at 12-1 in league play, 16-2 overall.

Too much defense and too many offensive weapons overwhelmed the RCDS Wildcats. Matt Tate (Greenwich) dished out 10 assists, getting every Dragon involved in the offense. Hunter Eggers (Greenwich) scored 19, Pat Ryan (Darien) 18, Sean Obi (Anambra, Nigeria) 15, and Zach Baines (Stamford) 9. Baines also led all rebounders with 10, and shot blockers with three.

Andrew Chase (Weston), Sam Hodge (Westport) and Scott Deutsch (Southport) used their excellent length and Brendan Bieder (Fairfield) and  Van Barnet (Ridgefield) used their hustling athleticism to squeeze the Rye offense into a subpar performance. Rye had come into the game with excellent momentum, having just beaten the second place Brunswick Bruins in their last game.

GFA winds down its regular season play this week with a trip to Kingswood-Oxford on Friday and to St Lukes on Saturday. Next Wednesday, the Dragons will host Hamden Hall in the first round of the FAA post-season tournament. On that night the team will also honor its most successful senior class ever Obi, Eggers, Ryan, Deutsch and Barnet.

yes, we LOVE Glen Gate. Worth every penny and they always come quickly if something is not workingRead More (even on memorial day last year!!) Their staff is so kind, respectful and polite, especially with my children. I like them so much I always remember them at Christmas.
