Lincoln's Birthday: What's Open, What's Closed

Connecticut state government and some other states close state offices in observance of Abraham Lincoln's birthday, but hardly any other government or organization does.

Lincoln, the Great Emancipator and 16th president of the United States, was born on Feb. 12, 1809 (205 years ago).

OPEN:

Nearly everything else, including:

Banks, under Connecticut law, are allowed to remain open on a holiday if they notify their customers beforehand by posting information in their lobby or office. In practice, all or nearly all banks in the state are open for Lincoln's Birthday, including TD Bank, Bank of America and People's United Bank.
