Can You Help our "Princess?"

OPIN - Outreach to Pets in Need - seeks foster or permanent home for Princess, recovering from cancer surgery.

Princess, a gorgeous American Eskimo dog recently had cancer surgery and needs someone to foster her while she recuperates so she doesn't have to spend her healing days in the shelter.   She will be fostered through OPIN (Outreach to Pets In Need), the supporting nonprofit of the Stamford Animal Shelter.

"Princess," also known to OPIN volunteers as "Snow White," is a very sweet girl who was found wandering the streets with a tremendously large tumors on her belly.

Princess barely could get around and was in obvious discomfort. With the help of OPIN and donations, she was able to get medical treatment and her largest tumor was removed.

After surgery, Princess appeared to be so much happier, being able to walk and get around with much more ease... but she's not out of the woods yet.  A biopsy was done and she was found to have mammary cancer so the smaller tumors will also need to be removed.

She now is waiting to have a second operation to see if she can be saved. Even with loving volunteers, donations, medical treatment, she still needs your prayers and a permanent home is what everyone wishes for Princess.

Princess is estimated to be about 10-12 years old and definitely is not ready to give up this battle.

She is so beautiful and I love this breed. So easy to care for and would be a wonderful best friend. I'm in Florida. She is in Connecticut? Wish I could get her. My boy chow/lab would love to have a lady friend.

Am always willing to help in any way, if I can. In Florida, thank you for all you do to help these precious ones. God Bless them all, and the good souls who help them.

Can a senior dog with cancerous tumors find a home? Here's an update on Princess, the dog who was found suffering from huge, massive tumors. Princess Snow White was transfered from Stamford Animal Control to Outreach to Pets In Need (OPIN), its supporting nonprofit, following healing after her first surgery. OPIN provided her second surgery, she recuperated in one of OPIN's super foster homes, then was ADOPTED to a loving and permanent home in Shelton, CT, where she will live a much deserved spoiled life for whatever days she has left - which we hope will be many. She is happy and doing wonderfully. Snow White underwent her third and last surgery to remove the remaining tumors and is recuperating very well from that. For us, this is a happy ending to the obvious neglectful and sad life that Princess must have lived before being picked up by Stamford Animal Care & Control. When you look into the eyes of a homeless animal, you can never know their pain. For Princess, that pain has ended and we are grateful to our supporters, volunteers who loved Princess and her adopter, who will offer her love, warmth and comfort this holiday season. Something she most likely had never known in her first 12 years of life. Visit us on: www.opinpets.org
