Mobile commerce, or "mcommerce," has had a transformative impact on some businesses, including Amazon and eBay.

But for the vast majority of retail companies, mobile represents only a negible fraction of total sales, and it's likely to stay that way for the next half-decade, Mashable reports today.

 

But over the next five years, total mobile sales on smartphones are expected to grow 33 percent annually to $31 billion, making up nine percent of online sales in 2017, according to Forrester Research.
