Share the Warmth: New Canaan Coat Drive

There are people who need coats, and not like I need a new coat this year. But like, no money, no stores, no coats, Need them! Help me to help them!

We do not need to look very far to find a different world.

Today, there is a child who does not have a coat to keep her warm just 19 miles from the corner shop where I bought my daughter a new one for this year. And there are 15,000 more men, women and children just like that child in Bridgeport who will not have a coat either. That is almost as many people as we have in New Canaan. But, we can do something, and someone is. The Bridgeport Rescue Mission will give out over 15,000 coats next month for free to anyone who needs one. I have rounded up 7 in my house alone that I will be taking to them. I would love to have my car so full that I cannot see out of the back.

So as you sort out the winter clothes and buy new for the season, I'd love to donate any that you don't need anymore for you. They are in need of all sizes, adult and child. You can drop them off at to from now until November 1st. Let's share the warmth!

Hollywood2, Baffled Resident isn't an idiot. She is just confused, dumbfounded or confounded. Ironically, all three are synonyms for baffled. Now back to the original theme for this thread; thank you to Kristin for being a caring person, during this time of need. KEN

What is it exactly you think I need to apologize for, BR? Misreading and assuming you work in a tire shop? Not all employees in a tire shop would necessarily have access to customer records. I think what is upsetting to you is that you keep trying to point out the worst in people and I keep pointing out how sad it is you think that way. I don't live in a cocoon. I was not raised in New Canaan or an equivalent. I know that there are bad people in every price range. I just don't hold back on helping those in need because a percentage of people receiving the help might use my donation for something other than what I intended. You don't live in New Canaan so I have to wonder why you are paying such close attention to the goings-on in this town. Maybe you are looking for charity drop-off boxes to rob?

I wouldn't need to rob charity dropboxes if i were looking to commit larceny. I'd only need to peruse the announcements/blogs on here to find out where i can find the good stuff, like formula on a side porch, for example.
