ACKER Goes to Court - Come Demonstrate!

Come demonstrate when Acker goes to court this Wednesday, Dec. 12th 9:00am

Save The Date To Demonstrate: Wedsnesday. Dec. 12, 9:00am, Superior Court Litchfield District.

Let us gather at the Court House to let the judicial system know that there are a lot of concerned citizens who are going to be watching the outcome of the prosecution of Fred Acker for 62 counts of FELONY animal cruelty.

Click here for my original blog post about this animal cruelty case, which has received 156 comments to date.

Having been an animal control officer for over 25 years, it has been my experience that the police, prosecutors, and judges do not look at animal cruelty cases as very important. No one in Connecticut has ever gone to jail for commiting this crime. The average penalty has been a suspended sentence, probation, and community service.

A true community service would be to send these criminals to prison. The penalty, under the law is 5 years in prison and/or a $5,000.00 fine for each count. I feel this problem, because it is so lucrative, and is so easy to take advantage of the average persons feelings for unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats, needs to be addressed the same as child abuse and trafficking in human beings. Let the punishment fit the crime.

By demonstrating before this court house, a message will be sent to the prosecutor and the judge that the good people of Connecticut want our animal cruelty laws to be treated the same as child abuse laws. Nothing less.

Bring your friends, some coffee, and a large poster. See you on the Green at 9:00AM.
