Bob Karl, 52, DHS Class of '79, Little League Coach

Bob Karl, 52, who grew up in Darien and then raised his children here, moved to Thailand, where he passed away the day after Christmas.

Robert Stephen Karl passed away in Chumpon, Thailand on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013.
 
Bob was born in Stamford, Connecticut on July 27, 1961. Bob attended Darien schools and graduated from DHS in 1979. After graduation from the University of Southern California in 1983 he settled in Darien, where he had grown up. Then he lived for a brief period in Marco Island, FL before he discovered Thailand, the land that he loved.
 
Bob worked in the retail business for many years. Bob was active in The Darien Little League. He coached his son Robert’s team bringing them to the playoffs about a decade ago. Bob was a avid baseball fan and could talk for hours about the teams and players.
  
He is survived by his beloved wife, Penpron Srisuwan, known affectionately as “Meow”; his son Robert Stephen Karl Jr., of San Francisco; his parents, Wayne Karl and Wendi Fisher of Vero Beach, FL (formerly of Darien); as well as Audrey Karl Shaff and Howard Shaff of Marco Island, FL.  He is also survived by his three brothers: James, of Marco Island; Allan of Encinitas, CA; and Jonathan of McLean, VA; as well as his nieces, Emily & Anna of McLean and Aiden of Marco Island.

Bob will be laid to rest in his beloved Thailand. A memorial will be held at a later date.
