Kids Planner: Friday After Five, 105th Nutmeg Festival, Ponder The Pond And More...

Here's a roundup of things to do with the kids this weekend as we near the middle of August.

This week’s RMACC Friday’s After Five concert outside of Town Hall will feature Maria Koterska, Gillian O’Brien, & Brian Duke.  For more information, visit www.rmacct.org.

 

The 105th annual Nutmeg Festival will take place at St. Stephen’s Church on Saturday, August 13, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.  For more information, call (203) 788-5073.

 

Join the Ponder the Pond Trail Walk at Weir Farm on Sunday, August 14, 1-2:30 p.m.  Park Ranger Allison Herrmann will lead a hike along the trails, pointing out interesting sights along the way.  The program is free to all, though space is limited.  To register, call (203) 834-1896 x 12.  Note: though the hike is not strenuous, there will be periods of standing interspersed with periods of walking.  Make sure you have comfortable shoes, and bring a water bottle.  www.nps.gov.wefa

 

Celebrate the Year of the Turtle with the Discovery Center at the Ridgefield Recreation Center on Saturday, August 13, 10:30 a.m-12 p.m.  Open to children age 3-8 with caregivers.  Free for members, $7 for non-members.  For more information, call (203) 438-1063, or click here.

 

Build Your Own Sound Machines at the Aldrich on Saturday, August 13, noon-5 p.m.  This Family Art Adventures session will feature a visit from an artist (2 p.m.) who will teach participants how to build their own sound machines using found objects.  Free for members or free with the price of admission.  For more information, contact Michelle Friedman at drawon@aldrichart.org, or (203) 438-4519 x 21.
