Letter: Terrie Wood a True Steward of the Environment

Jay P. Shutts writes in a letter to the editor that Terrie Wood deserves re-election as state representative in the 141st district, both for being so concerned about the environment and for supporting inclusionary zoning.

Letter To editor:

This letter supports  the re-election of Terrie Wood to the 141st state representative seat. I’m supporting Terrie because she represents Darien and Rowayton’s best interest with difficult  environmental and  affordable housing issues.

I have known Terrie for 17 years and got to know her well when she took over the Darien Land Trust as president in 2004. She raised the bar for stewardship of Land Trust properties, property acquisition and preservation of open space.

Terrie continues as a true steward of the environment and is one of 15 members of the General Assembly bi-partisan Shoreline Preservation Task Force which seeks to protect homes, habitats, and shoreline landscapes.

Affordable housing statute 8-30g as it stands now has a negative impact with unintended consequences for many towns in our state. Our town has wasted tremendous time and money on this issue. Terrie supports  a bill of reforms to create inclusionary zoning  which would identify the right locations for affordable housing.

Re-electing Terrie will insure that we continue to have the very best representation for our Darien Rowayton community  by continuing to bring leadership to these important issues.
