Yay for chocolate and onion day! I know that you’re hoping that I didn’t eat those 2 things together, which I didn’t, but honestly that would have been nothing compared to what I did eat…
Smoked swordfish with shaved chocolate and tomato salad
Pappardelle with wild mushroom sauce and grated chocolate
Ricotta stuffed chicken with chocolate cream sauce and veg sauté
Chocolate mousse with mandarin and cannoli chips
I know that sounds pretty weird, AND IT WAS, but I really enjoyed it. The best part was the location. We hiked up 10 sets of stairs to get to this amazing restaurant where they had a huge balcony with a table set just for us. The panoramic view of the city below and the twinkling lights were absolutely breathtaking.
Before dinner we got to check out a really amazing bakery, who provided us with the chocolate for the dinner, and we had a chance to enjoy the town which is done in the Baroque style.
In the morning, we drove to this really cool farm that grows these humongous onions that they turn into jams, spreads and toppings. We had a nice tasting lunch with them, then drove back to our hotel where we enjoyed the afternoon off.
Driving around Sicily has been really beautiful and our driver has been making pit stops along the way to show us the different plants and trees that grow naturally on the island including capers and almonds!
Tomorrow we drive to our last hotel in Balestrate! I can’t believe it’s almost over.
