Cops: 2 Grocery Workers Stole Pocketbook

Two Stop & Shop employees were arrested on an accusation they stole a pocketbook containing $180.

Two employees of Stop & Shop in Goodwives Shopping Center, 25 Old Kings Hwy. N., have been charged with larceny in connection with the May 27 report of the theft of a pocketbook containing $180.

The theft of the pocketbook was reported on May 27. Reviewing store cameras led police to believe both employees were involved in the theft.

Police obtained an arrest warrant from a judge, and after each woman was informed of the warrant and turned herself in.

Steviemarie Murphy, 24, of Havemeyer Place in Greenwich, was charged with sixth-degree larceny. She turned herself in on June 24 and posted $250 bond. Murphy is scheduled to appear Friday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Last Friday, Darlineda Abelard, 23, of Glasser Street in Norwalk, turned herself in. She was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear July 12 in the same court.
