2012 Board of Ed Candidate Charged with Disorderly Conduct

Patricia McCormick, a Democratic candidate for Board of Education in 2012, was charged by Darien police with disorderly conduct on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in connection with a domestic dispute.

Police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the matter:

McCormick, 43, was intoxicated after drinking alcohol when her mother objected and took her car keys. McCormick, became upset and grabbed the upper part of her mother's clothing, which made her mother fear McCormick was going to grab her neck.

The mother backed away and called police at 7:20 p.m. When police arrived, McCormick said that she had been drinking too much and did grab her mother's clothing out of frustration.

The police report did not say whether or not McCormick denied to police she was about to choke her mother, as her mother said she suspected.

Two of McCormick's children saw the altercation, and the state Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.

No bond was set for the case -- instead, she was released on a promise to appear Nov. 13 in state Superior Court in Stamford. Her next court date is Dec. 17, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.
