Angered by High Fuel Costs, Woman Tries to Steal Energy Drinks from Gas Station

A 28-year-old Westport woman is doing more than complaining about the high cost of gas. According to police, she ran out of a Mobil gas station in Fairfield on Thursday afternoon with energy drinks she didn't pay for after saying since Mobil "stole from her, she was going to steal from them." The woman reportedly pre-paid for $20 worth of gas at the station and became upset at how little gas she was able to pump before the $20 limit was reached and the nozzle shut off. She went inside, grabbed three five-hour energy shots and ran from the store. Unusual twist: Fairfield police commented later: “She came here and she admitted she didn't get enough gas. “Lock up” is a lesson learned this week in Darien, after a pair of bold break-ins increased vigilance among homeowners. One 38-year-old town woman reported jewelry—including a wedding ring and engagement ring—missing from her Avalon apartment on Hollow Tree Ridge Road. In a separate incident, a 52-year-old man, luckily, awoke before a male suspect could take anything from his home. Unusual twist: While the woman said she frequently left her door unlocked, the man awoke because one of his dogs started barking and after he got out of bed, the resident saw man leaving his son’s room, and exited out kitchen through the garage and ran down driveway. Police said the garage door had been left opened, and the inside door to the kitchen unlocked. .

We hear a gory story out of Norwalk this week, as residents of an apartment complex report seeing a man with a mohawk leaving blood on doors and hallway and apartment walls and floors. Police learned of the strange spotting after a woman called to say the doorknob to her apartment was rattled, and when she looked through the door peephole and saw the man, she noticed he was bloody. Unusual twist: Police arrived to find the blood everywhere in the complex, though residents there had already started cleaning up some blood from the floor. Concerned about the safety of a possible victim of a crime, Police searched the apartment for the man but didn't find him. .

In New Canaan, a box of six Motorola pagers—worth $434.70 or about $2,600 altogether—had been considered stolen after it was delivered to the downtown fire department, signed for by a volunteer firefighter and box placed in an open-access alarm room. Unusual twist: Police opened their investigation only to hear later from firefighters that the box had been found. A clerical error on the part of the vendor triggered the search for the box that was believed to be missing. In fact, firefighters said, the box had never been shipped. .

Wilton police are investigating a more substantial problem, after reports that eight vehicles parked in six different residences’ driveways were burglarized late last Sunday night. Five of the homes hit were located on Ridgefield Road, while one was hit on at the beginning of Drum Hill Road, police said. Unusual twist: This marks the consecutive of car thefts — to date, 26 vehicles at 18 homes have been illegally entered or stolen from. , including police tips on prevention.
