Another Door Pried Open at a Darien Business

Add one more burglary to the list of Darien businesses where someone gained entry by prying open an exterior door, although nothing was known to have been taken in this burglary on Old Kings Highway North.

Another report in a string of commercial burglaries in Darien came to police on Monday, Feb. 18, although managers of the building at 50 Old Kings Hwy. N. had been informed of it the previous day, Sunday.

Four similar burglaries had been discovered the day before that, on Saturday, Feb. 16. As with those burglaries, entry was gained in this case by prying open an exterior door.

Someone also pried open the back door to Darien Toy Box, 1064 Post Rd., and was seen on Saturday going door-to-door around other business nearby, Darien Patch has been told.

Police say the time frame of the burglary on Old Kings Highway is uncertain.

A maintenance worker discovered the burglary at about 10 a.m. Sunday, Darien police said. Managers decided not to report the incident to police that day because they couldn't find anything stolen, according to police.
