Apparently Threatening Note Found in Town Hall Vestibule

Everyone, in fact, will pass away eventually — but a note saying that and left in the vestibule of Town Hall is going to raise concerns.

A Town Hall custodian, vacuuming at about 5:15 p.m. last Wednesday picked up a folded piece of paper he found in the front vestibule of the building, opened it up and read: "Every 1 will die."

Police were called.

The custodian told the cops that he had walked through the vestibule at about 4:30 p.m. to take down the flags in front of the building and didn't see the note then.

First Selectman Jayme Stevenson told police that she knew of no burning issues or disputes in town government that would enrage anyone so much as to write that message.

As a precaution, police asked Metropolitan Transportation Authority police for the use of their explosives-sniffing dog to go through the building. The dog did, and nothing was found.

It was decided to keep Town Hall open for meetings scheduled that night, which passed without incident.
